Nigeria’s Alhassan Yusuf Ruled Out of Clash Against Cote d’Ivoire

The Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, dropped a bombshell during a news conference, revealing that Alhassan Yusuf will miss the upcoming match against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire due to injury. The defensive midfielder from Royal Antwerp FC of Belgium is set to be back in contention for Nigeria’s third match against Guinea Bissau, as confirmed by Peseiro.

During Sunday’s game against Equatorial Guinea, Yusuf was substituted due to an injury, a setback that now sidelines him for the important upcoming fixture.

In better news for the Super Eagles, Victor Osimhen, the striker from Napoli FC of Italy and the reigning African Footballer of the Year, is set to be available for the match against Cote d’Ivoire, providing a glimmer of hope to the team.

Peseiro also provided updates on the fitness of other key players, citing that Leicester City of England playmaker, Kelechi Iheanacho, is nearing a return to action, while Terem Moffi, the striker from OGC Nice FC of France, is steadily catching up with the rest of the squad.

The team’s prospects for the upcoming match at the Stade Olympique Alassan Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan, appear to be a mix of setbacks and potential reinforcements, adding an element of unpredictability to the Super Eagles’ campaign in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
