Emir Sanusi Criticizes APC’s Refusal to Concede Defeat in Kano Governorship Election

In a recent Islamic lecture, Emir Mohammadu Sanusi II of Kano expressed his disapproval of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Nasiru Gawuna and others for their delayed acceptance of defeat in the Kano governorship election.

Sanusi remarked that it was too late for the APC candidate and party members to concede defeat after the Supreme Court affirmed Governor Kabir Yusuf’s victory. He criticized the APC for attempting to seize power through the court process, stating that such actions were unjust and against the will of the people.

During the lecture, he emphasized the importance of accepting destiny, highlighting the injustice of attempting to stifle the electorate’s choice. Sanusi underscored that people should accept election outcomes and not try to manipulate the system through corrupt practices in the judiciary.

The emir urged Governor Yusuf to fulfill his campaign promises and emphasized that if he fails to do so, the electorate has the power to vote him out, highlighting the essence of democracy. Sanusi also encouraged politicians to learn from the practices of the developed world, emphasizing that unless certain of winning an election, there is no point in resorting to corrupt methods to gain power.

His candid remarks serve as a reminder of the principles of democracy and the importance of respecting the will of the people, resonating not only within Kano State but also echoing through the broader political landscape.
