Nigerian Military’s Aggressive Pursuit of Kidnappers in FCT to Ensure Residents’ Safety

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has made a resolute commitment to the residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), assuring them of the military’s collaborative effort with other security agencies and stakeholders to pursue and dismantle kidnapping syndicates operating within the territory.

In the weekly report of the armed forces’ operations released on Friday in Abuja, Major General Edward Baba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the military’s awareness of the profound impact of kidnappings on affected families and the escalating apprehension among residents.

Highlighting the strategic approach, Major General Baba revealed that the troops have intensified ground and air surveillance in the areas plagued by kidnapping incidents. Additionally, the deployment of cutting-edge technology to uncover the hideouts and strongholds of kidnapping gangs has been a crucial tactic. The tempo of operations has been escalated, focused on locating, weakening, and eradicating these criminal elements.

While acknowledging the complexity of the situation, Major General Baba reassured citizens that the armed forces are tirelessly dedicated to addressing the distressing state of affairs. He also underscored the concerted effort of the troops in coordination with other security services and stakeholders to gather intelligence on the activities of these kidnapping gangs, specifically within the FCT.

Notable progress has been made in clearing areas plagued by kidnappings, such as Kawu, Gaba, Deidei, Kubwa Hills, and Ushafa in the FCT, as well as Garam, Jibi, Zuma Rock in Niger State, and Gidan Dogo, Kuyeri, and Kuyeri Hills in Kaduna State. Furthermore, the military has intensified night patrols in Mpape, Kubwa, Lugbe, Pyakasa, Keti, Gbaupe, Gbaukuchi, and Airport Road, among others.

This unwavering stance of the Nigerian military’s pursuit of kidnappers in FCT exemplifies a decisive move to ensure the safety and security of residents, sending a resounding message of defiance against criminal elements.
