Power Outage Alert: AEDC Announces Blackout in Gwarimpa, Abuja

Residents of Gwarimpa, the capital of Nigeria, are facing a major power outage as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has officially confirmed the disruption. The AEDC conveyed this information through a public notice released on Friday night, citing a technical fault in the 15 MVA, 33/11kV Power Transformer at 1 x15 MVA, M44 Charley Boy Injection as the cause of the blackout.

The outage is expected to impact several areas, including Roads 63, 64, 69 and environs, lya Kasuwa and environs, Adkan Estate, Gwarinpa, and surrounding regions. According to the AEDC, the affected locations are anticipated to experience a prolonged power cut lasting more than 72 hours.

In a similar development, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc has notified its customers in the Rivers State capital of a power outage that commenced on Thursday. The company attributed the disruption to the “loss of supply from Afam 132KV line,” which has led to affected areas such as Port Harcourt Town, PH Main, and Rumuosi Transmission Stations experiencing electricity scarcity.

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc has pointed out a “faulty conductor wire” at the Port Harcourt Town Transmission Station as the specific cause of the prolonged outage.

Both power distribution companies are working diligently to address the technical issues and restore electricity supply to the affected areas. Meanwhile, residents are urged to make necessary arrangements to mitigate the impact of these outages on their daily activities.
