The fallout from the Supreme Court judgement on the Kano State governorship election has prompted the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embark on a strategic re-evaluation. The Supreme Court’s affirmation of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf’s election victory has led the APC to proactively seek unity within its ranks and appeal to new members.
In response to the Supreme Court’s decision, the APC has expressed its commitment to fostering a sense of cohesion within the party’s membership and extending a welcoming hand to prospective new members. This significant move comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling, which reinstated Governor Abba Yusuf’s victory in the March 2023 poll, overturning the decisions of the lower courts.
Mallam Muhammad Garba, the Chief of Staff of the APC National Chairman, articulated the party’s appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering support for Kano State and the APC. Garba specifically lauded Tinubu’s dedication to advancing the party’s interests and the overall progress of the state and the nation.
Garba underlined the APC’s proactive stance, emphasizing the party’s intention to keep its doors wide open to embrace fresh members who are eager to align themselves with its vision. This bold overture is aimed at augmenting the party’s strength, further underlining its commitment to good governance and its electoral promises.
Acknowledging the need for concerted efforts to fortify the party’s unity, the meeting resolved to convene an extensive stakeholders’ gathering in Kano. The primary objective of this gathering is to craft and execute a strategy that will solidify the party’s cohesiveness and propel it towards amplified development.
In a bid to assuage the anxieties of party members amidst the legal tussle, the APC urged them to exhibit patience and composure as they await the outcomes of the upcoming comprehensive stakeholders’ meeting. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024, will serve as a platform for charting a collective path forward, with the participation of select Kano APC stakeholders, under the stewardship of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The APC’s magnanimous gesture and strategic maneuvering signify the party’s determination to transcend the setbacks and forge a revitalized path towards consolidating its influence in the Kano political landscape.
