Nigerian Forward Moses Simon Urges Vigilance Against Guinea-Bissau in AFCON Clash

As the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations unfolds, Nigerian forward Moses Simon issues a stern warning to the Super Eagles, advising against underestimating their upcoming opponent, Guinea-Bissau. The caution comes ahead of the highly anticipated face-off between the two teams at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Simon emphasizes the significance of staying alert, citing Guinea-Bissau’s previous victory over Nigeria during the AFCON qualifiers. Despite Nigeria’s recent 1-0 triumph over Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau’s 4-2 loss to Equatorial Guinea, Simon urges his teammates to approach the match with utmost seriousness.

“We have to keep fighting hard and not underrate our next opponent [Guinea-Bissau]. They beat us in the qualifiers which is enough for us to be wary of them,” Simon stressed during a media briefing in anticipation of the clash with Guinea-Bissau.

Reflecting on the team’s current position, Simon acknowledges that their fate rests in their own hands and expresses confidence in the squad’s ability to secure a positive outcome. “The good thing is that everything is in our hands now. We know what to do to be in the next round. The victory over Ivory Coast has helped us a lot,” he added.

In light of the challenging road ahead, Simon emphasizes the importance of sustained dedication and a positive mindset. “The most important thing now is for us to keep doing our best in training and on matchdays. It is still a long way to go for us, but the key thing is to remain positive and keep working towards achieving our target,” he concluded.

As the AFCON continues to unfold, Simon’s words serve as a timely reminder of the resilience and determination necessary for success at the tournament, while also shedding light on the potential challenges posed by their upcoming opponents.
