Edo 2024: Ize-Iyamu Asserts Unstoppable Drive for Primary Election Participation

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a prominent contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, has issued a resolute statement, affirming his determination to participate in the party’s primary elections, despite alleged attempts to thwart his candidacy.

Addressing a throng of supporters and party stalwarts at the Benin Airport, Ize-Iyamu steadfastly dismissed reports of being excluded from the primary elections, attributing such claims to individuals apprehensive of his stature and influence. He emphasized, “The purported report of my exclusion and other aspirants from contesting the party’s primaries election by the Professor Julius Ihonvbere-led screening panel is ‘mere rumor’.”

Contrary to the alleged exclusion, Ize-Iyamu reiterated his commitment to the electoral process, revealing his intent to procure the APC’s expression of interest and nomination forms, with unwavering support pledged by his constituents.

Dispelling concerns among his supporters, he reassured them that the National Working Committee holds the authoritative power to vet aspirants, debunking the screening committee’s purported actions. He further disclosed, “The highest organ of our party issued a statement through the publicity secretary… that all those who have aspirations to run for governorship should go and collect the form.”

Emphasizing the unity within the party, Ize-Iyamu underscored his amicable relationship with former National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, advising against unjustly censuring Oshiomhole. He remarked, “Nobody should blame him for wrongdoing… as one family, we have a way of resolving any issue. We should all respect him as our leader and father.”

With unwavering determination, Ize-Iyamu’s resolve and unwavering spirit reflect his firm belief in the democratic process and his commitment to serving the people of Edo State. His declaration resonates as a testament to the tenacity and resilience that characterizes the political landscape, underscoring the fervent pursuit of participation and representation amidst the intricacies of party politics.
