Renowned Scholar Professor Felix Maringe Appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor at University of Kigali

The University of Kigali (UoK) has named Professor Felix Maringe as its Deputy Vice Chancellor for Institutional Development, Research, and Innovation, effective January 3, 2024. This prestigious appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of UoK, reflecting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership.

Professor Maringe brings with him a wealth of experience, spanning over 30 years in the field of academia and research. His journey commenced at the University of Zimbabwe and continued at the Bindura University of Science Education, where he served as the inaugural Dean of Education. His dedication to scholarly pursuits led him to pursue a doctoral degree in education, specializing in higher education marketing under the mentorship of Professor Nick Foskett.

Having made significant contributions to the academic landscape, Professor Maringe’s expertise garnered international recognition, leading to teaching appointments at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and later at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg, South Africa. During his tenure at WITS, he held pivotal roles, including Assistant Dean for Internationalization and Partnerships, and ultimately, as the Head of the WITS School of Education.

A prolific author, Professor Maringe has made remarkable scholarly contributions, with 122 publications, including books, reports, refereed journal articles, and book chapters. His influential work has garnered over 5,570 citations on Google Scholar, attesting to his impact in the field of education. Moreover, his editorial leadership at the Journal of Educational Studies adds to his distinguished profile, reflecting his commitment to advancing educational discourse.

Professor Maringe’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of scholars is evident through his successful supervision of 31 doctoral students, with two more nearing completion under his guidance.
