The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Command’s Commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi, has issued a stern warning to motorists against the dangerous practice of answering or making phone calls while driving. Speaking through the Corps’ Acting Public Education Officer, Margret Onabe, Irelewuyi emphasized that using phones while driving is not only perilous but also a violation of traffic laws.

Irelewuyi highlighted the correlation between road accidents and the use of mobile phones while driving, urging motorists to refrain from this hazardous behavior. He advised drivers to pull over and park safely before using their phones, emphasizing that any device capable of distracting drivers should not be used while on the road.

The Commander also noted a significant reduction in the rate of motor accidents during the recent Yuletide season compared to previous years. He credited this positive trend to the Command’s dedicated efforts in ensuring motorists’ compliance with traffic rules. Furthermore, Irelewuyi revealed that the FRSC has been conducting public enlightenment programs on radio and regularly visiting parks to ensure operators’ adherence to regulations.

In conclusion, the FRSC’s proactive measures, coupled with motorists’ compliance with traffic laws, are crucial in mitigating road accidents. Motorists are urged to prioritize safety and refrain from using mobile devices while driving.
