The uncle of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who was brutally murdered by bandits last week, Sherifdeen, has said information reaching the family showed that the deceased graduated with a first-class from her department and her convocation ceremony is scheduled to be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2024.

Sherifdeen also said the release of the remaining sisters late on Saturday evoked bittersweet memories for the family.

He said: ‘’You can imagine such a feeling if she had been alive to witness the convocation. However, the situation has further strengthened our faith in Almighty Allah.

“We thanked all those that stood by us during this trying period immensely but it had been a mixed feeling for us.”

Recall that Najeeba, a 500-level Quantity Surveying student, her younger sister Nadherah, 300-level Zoology student, both of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and their twin sisters, Habeeba and Haneesa, regained freedom after spending 21 days in captivity following their abduction on January 2, 2024.

According to Sherifdeen, “Their release has been received with mixed feelings by the family as we are now faced with the reality of those we lost in the cause of this incident which the trauma then did not allow us to mourn.

“Alhaji Abdulfatai who was gunned down by the bandits during their abduction was a contractor in Abuja and occupies a very important position in the family because of the role and void he filled.

“I was the one who went to claim the body of the late Nabeeha. She was brutally murdered and his sister, Najeeba, was forced to see her brutal corpse by the bandits to traumatise her and others for us to quickly pay the ransom.’’

The family has also contradicted the police over the assertion that no ransom was paid before the release of the remaining girls.
