In a bold move, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State, has indefinitely suspended its chairman, Ibrahim Huseini, over allegations of misappropriating N19 million from the party’s funds and engaging in activities detrimental to the party.

The suspension, which came into effect on January 15, 2024, was prompted by a vote of no confidence passed against Huseini by the majority of the executive members at both local and ward levels. The decision was communicated to Huseini through a letter dated January 21, 2024, indicating a clear stance against his actions.

The letter, signed by a coalition of party officials, accused Huseini of blatant disregard for party protocols and institutions, as well as issuing threats to fellow members of the executive. His involvement in activities deemed contrary to the interests of the party during the 2023 gubernatorial election further fueled the decision to suspend him.

The PDP Working Committee in Dekina Local Government Area unequivocally instructed Huseini to surrender all party materials in his possession to the divisional secretary. The suspension is a direct consequence of his failure to uphold the tenets of the party constitution, which has been viewed as obstructing the party’s progress.

The suspension was endorsed by a noteworthy lineup of officials, including Secretary Ademu Yusuf, Assistant Secretary Attai Joseph, Legal Adviser Jacob Atadoga, Auditor John Bala Amedu, Financial Secretary Usman Enema, Treasurer Salisu Shehu, Youth Leader Ayuba Amedu, Ex-Official Danjuma Muhammed, Women Leader Alima Abuh, and Vice Chairman Salami Muhammed Omede, alongside at least eight ward chairmen.

This decisive action by the PDP in Kogi State sends a resounding message of accountability and adherence to party principles, positioning the party as proactive in addressing internal matters and upholding transparency. With the suspension of its chairman, the PDP demonstrates its commitment to ensuring ethical conduct within its ranks, serving as a beacon of integrity in the political landscape of Kogi State and beyond.
