The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has taken a significant step by registering three prominent oil marketer associations in Nigeria as its distributors.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Dangote Group announced the registration of members from the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria.
The post emphasized, “Three prominent associations, that constitute 75 per cent of the total market in Nigeria have been registered,” showcasing the strategic importance of these partnerships.
Furthermore, the Dangote Group stated that it is also considering other interested marketers to join forces with the refinery, indicating its commitment to establishing a strong network of distributors.
Notably, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has already commenced the production of diesel and aviation fuel since January 12, 2023, marking a significant milestone in its operational timeline. Reports also confirm that the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria have registered as marketers for the refinery’s products nationwide.
Despite these developments, the Dangote Group has not yet revealed the timeline for the availability of these products in the market, including the commencement of Premium Motor Spirit production.
This move by Dangote Refinery holds substantial implications for the Nigerian oil sector, signaling a potential shift in the distribution landscape and further solidifying the refinery’s role as a key player in the country’s energy industry.
