Nigerian football star William Troost-Ekong is eager to return to training this week following his absence from the team’s recent match against Guinea-Bissau due to a knee injury, as reported by Media Talk Africa.
The talented centre-back sustained the injury during Nigeria’s triumphant 1-0 win against hosts Cote d’Ivoire. Sitting out the game at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Troost-Ekong was replaced in the starting line-up by Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo.
In an encouraging update, he expressed, “I am getting better, I am looking to be back in training on Wednesday. I am not out of the tournament,” during interactions with reporters.
Despite the setback, the Super Eagles managed to secure their spot in the Round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau.
Troost-Ekong’s positive outlook and determination to return to action swiftly resonates with the Nigerian team’s resolve as they continue their journey in the African Cup of Nations.
