A horrific onslaught has left scores feared dead and homes in ruins in Mangu LGA of Plateau State. The community fell victim to a brutal attack by unidentified gunmen, resulting in an untold number of casualties and the destruction of over 15 houses and numerous shops.
Lazarus Musa, a distressed resident, lamented the inability to ascertain the exact death toll amidst the chaos. The grim event unfolded in the wake of a 24-hour curfew enacted by the state government due to a rapidly deteriorating security situation in the area.
In light of these harrowing developments, the Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, urges the public to remain calm, reassuring citizens that law enforcement is actively addressing the crisis.
Since April 2023, Mangu LGA, once a bastion of tranquility, has been besieged by a grave security menace that has exacted a heavy toll in lives and property.
