Kashim Shettima: Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga’ on the Verge of Becoming Nigeria’s Unofficial Anthem

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, expressed his belief that Kizz Daniel and Tekno’s 2023 hit track, ‘Buga,’ is on the brink of being embraced as the country’s de facto second national anthem.

Shettima, whose participation in the ‘Buga’ dance challenge garnered widespread attention last year, emphasized the importance of showcasing Nigeria’s rich arts and culture to the global stage. He underscored the Nigerian government’s commitment to leveraging the nation’s artistic and cultural assets in realizing the ambitious “Nigeria Destination 2030” vision.

“We cannot ignore the fact that Nigerian arts and culture are making significant strides on the global platform. Nigeria has been absent from the global spotlight for some time. This serves as an opportunity for us to reintroduce Nigeria. The ‘Buga’ dance is verging on becoming our unofficial second national anthem. Therefore, it is imperative for us to spotlight Nigeria,” Shettima stated.

Shettima’s remarks shed light on a growing sentiment within Nigeria’s leadership, underscoring the widespread impact and cultural significance of ‘Buga’ as a reflection of the country’s creative prowess.
