In a significant political move, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Alhaji Talba Diginsa, has announced his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This defection, alongside 360 supporters, reflects a growing dissatisfaction with the PDP’s leadership and direction in the state.
Diginsa expressed his disillusionment with the lack of focus and poor leadership within the PDP, citing these as primary reasons for the mass defection. He specifically praised the present Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Namadi, commending his leadership and commitment within his six months in office. Diginsa also highlighted Governor Mallam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, expressing confidence in his ability to govern the state effectively.
Following their official reception into the APC at Kwanar Dole, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel, extended a warm welcome to the new members. Gumel emphasized the party’s readiness to embrace individuals aligned with its vision for progress and development. He further pledged to collaborate with the defected members to ensure the victory of the APC.
This high-profile defection underscores the shifting political landscape in Jigawa State and sets the stage for intensified competition between the PDP and the APC. As the state prepares for future elections, the impact of these defections on the political dynamics remains to be seen, with potential far-reaching implications for both parties.
