In a dramatic display at the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Blessing Agbomhere, a leading aspirant for the Edo State governorship, made a bold statement by donning a crash helmet as he obtained the N50m Expression of Interest and Nomination form.

Amidst the fanfare of drummers and scores of supporters, Agbomhere confidently asserted his belief that he is the most deserving candidate to clinch the party’s ticket. Addressing journalists, he explained that the symbolic white helmet adorned with the APC logo signified his commitment to revamp Edo State into a modern metropolis.

“I know many of you will be wondering why I wore a helmet to the secretariat today. It symbolises the move to rescue and re-engineer Edo State which has started,” Agbomhere expressed. “You can see that I am even sweating as I stand here with you. People refer to me as a political engineer. I’m a political engineer because I am prepared and ready to work for the people of Edo State.”

Detailing his vision, Agbomhere emphasized his plans to alleviate congestion in Edo City by establishing Edo Metropolitan City 1 and 2, thereby addressing the soaring house rental costs. He also aims to prioritize the development of an Edo Construction Company dedicated to constructing roads and providing services to other states, with the objective of enhancing the state’s economic prospects.

Moreover, Agbomhere outlined his determination to elevate Edo State as a prime tourist destination while pledging a thorough overhaul for developmental purposes.

Despite the initial shortlisting of six aspirants by a committee appointed at the behest of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Prof Julius Ihonvbere, more contenders, including former APC governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, have boldly procured their governorship nomination forms, intensifying the electoral contest.

As Edo State becomes a focal point of political maneuvering and ambitions, the emergence of Agbomhere as a self-proclaimed “political engineer” injects dynamism into the unfolding narrative of the race for the governorship seat, promising an intriguing and fiercely competitive electoral landscape.
