Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu Confident of Governor Obaseki’s Support

Edo State Deputy Governor and 2024 Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant, Philip Shaibu, is optimistic about receiving the backing of Governor Godwin Obaseki in his bid for the governorship. Shaibu, with 30 years of political experience and seven years of collaboration with Obaseki, firmly believes he is well-positioned to succeed his mentor.

“The election date is set for September 21, 2024, and I am confident that my name will be on the ballot. I have consulted widely and been assured of support,” stated Shaibu on a recent media appearance.

Shaibu expressed his certainty in gaining Governor Obaseki’s endorsement during an interview, affirming, “I can bet you that Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, will support me. He has made it clear that I am his preferred candidate.”

In response to inquiries regarding support for another aspirant, Shaibu emphasized his understanding of the state’s political landscape, expressing confidence in his unique blend of private and public sector experience.

During his official declaration, Shaibu asserted his determination, stating, “Nobody can deter my ambition,” and pledged to provide practical governance if elected as the governor in 2024.

With an unwavering belief in grassroots connection, Shaibu affirmed, “Edo people want me to run because they see me not just as a regular politician but as someone who truly understands their needs.”

As the race for Edo’s governorship gains momentum, Shaibu’s confidence and commitment to offering practical governance highlight the anticipation and intrigue surrounding the upcoming elections.
