The Katsina Government has taken a decisive step in providing financial assistance to families affected by recent bandit attacks in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state. Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina, speaking at the disbursement event in Jibia, conveyed the government’s support to 30 families from Yan Gayya, Kadobe, Daddara, and Dan Marke villages. The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on the victims of banditry and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, Sa’idu Ibrahim, represented him at the event.

In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the families of those killed received N200,000 each, while those injured were granted N100,000 each. Governor Radda emphasized his administration’s commitment to supporting the bereaved families and tending to the wounded from the attacks, ensuring their medical needs are met at various health institutions across the country.

While clarifying that the financial aid is not a form of compensation, Governor Radda highlighted its purpose as a means to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the affected families. He also expressed his deep remorse for the inhumane actions of the bandits and reiterated his administration’s resolute stance against both the bandits and their collaborators, issuing a stern warning to the youth to desist from engaging in such criminal activities.

Local government Chairman Bishir Sabiu conveyed gratitude to the governor for the invaluable support extended to the victims, acknowledging the significance of the aid in their path to recovery. Furthermore, the District head of Daddara, Usman Usman-Nagogo, expressed profound thanks to Governor Radda for assuming full responsibility for the victims’ medical care.

Through this initiative, the Katsina Government has not only demonstrated its unwavering dedication to its citizens’ well-being but has also set a powerful example of solidarity and compassion in the face of adversity.
