The abduction of Mr. Philip Aivoji, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has sparked grave concern and demands for urgent intervention from security agencies and government authorities. Aivoji was kidnapped by unknown gunmen while returning from a stakeholders meeting in Oyo State, convened by Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
Alhaji Hakeem Amode, the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, emphasized the prevalence of kidnapping in the country and the imperative need for the government and stakeholders to take decisive actions to eradicate this menace. The abduction of Aivoji underscores the urgency for swift and effective measures to address the escalating threat of insecurity in Nigeria.
Expressing shock over the abduction, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, the PDP 2023 governorship candidate, demanded immediate action against insecurity and urged collaboration between the regional local security outfit, Amotekun, and the police to facilitate the release of the abducted party chairman and others.
The PDP has called for increased efforts from security agencies and the collaboration of regional security outfits to ensure the safe return of Aivoji. The party also urged the public to support initiatives aimed at ending the threat posed by kidnapping, which continues to endanger innocent lives.
The need for urgent and collaborative action against insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the southwestern region, has become increasingly evident in light of Aivoji’s abduction. The PDP’s plea for swift intervention and collective support in securing Aivoji’s release resonates as a pressing call for concerted efforts to address the growing insecurity in the country.
As the hope for Aivoji’s safe return remains uncertain, the outcry for immediate action to combat insecurity reverberates through the PDP’s urgent appeal, underscoring the urgency to address and eradicate the persistent threat of kidnapping in Nigeria.
