The former speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has opted for silence following his abrupt removal from office.
With 18 out of 26 house members supporting his impeachment on Tuesday, Oluomo has chosen not to address the situation or return to his office.
Reports indicate that even Oluomo’s aide has been absent from the legislative complex since the impeachment.
Approximately 42 hours after his removal, the state government released a statement acknowledging the legislature’s right to elect its leaders, emphasizing efforts to ensure peace within the assembly.
Despite multiple attempts to reach out to Oluomo for comment, including phone calls and messages, he has remained unresponsive.
Sources within the legislature have revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun has worked to reinstate Oluomo, but assembly members have firmly opposed such efforts.
