Nigerian Troops Take Down Bandits in Taraba, Confiscate Weapons

Nigerian troops from the 6 Brigade, Jalingo, demonstrated their valor and expertise in a recent clash with bandits in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba, ultimately reclaiming a cache of weapons from the assailants. The engagement unfolded in response to gunshots heard near a contested area along Tsukundi Road, escalating into a fierce confrontation.

According to a statement released by Lt. Olabodunde Oni, the Public Relations Officer of the brigade, the troops swiftly mobilized to the scene upon receiving the alert. Upon arrival, they encountered two deceased individuals, presumably felled by unidentified assailants, and provided immediate medical aid to an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Exhibiting remarkable courage and professionalism, the troops meticulously scoured the adjacent thickets. Their perseverance paid off as they confronted the armed groups and effectively neutralized their positions with superior firepower, prompting the militias to abandon their foothold and flee in disarray.

During the subsequent sweep of the area, the troops successfully recovered a significant arsenal of weaponry, comprising 2 AK-47 Rifles with 36 Rounds of 7.62 MM Special ammunition, 10 empty cases of 7.62 MM, 1 Double Barrel Rifle, and 1 Single Barrel Rifle with 14 live cartridges.

Lt. Olabodunde Oni emphasized that this successful operation serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the military in upholding peace and security within the state, reinforcing their pivotal role in maintaining stability amidst challenging circumstances.
