PDP Calls for Immediate Release of Abducted Lagos Chairman and Others

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is demanding the prompt release of Mr. Philip Aivoji, the chairman of its Lagos State chapter, who was abducted on Thursday. In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja on Saturday, the PDP expressed deep concern for Aivoji’s well-being and safety, especially considering his age.

Aivoji was kidnapped on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while en route from Ibadan to Lagos after a party assignment. The alarming increase in kidnapping for ransom, senseless killings, and acts of terrorism across the country has been condemned by Ologunagba.

The party called for urgent action from President Bola Tinubu to secure the release of all individuals held in kidnappers’ hideouts in various parts of the country. Ologunagba also acknowledged and praised the efforts of the security forces in combatting terrorism, kidnapping, and other social challenges despite the daunting obstacles they face.

The PDP has urged the security high command to take immediate measures to ensure the release of Aivoji and all other Nigerians being held in abductors’ camps nationwide. Additionally, the party has called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and continue supporting the security agencies as they strive to protect the nation during this critical period.

The PDP’s demand for the release of the abducted chairman and other victims reflects the growing concern over the security situation in Nigeria and underscores the urgent need for effective measures to combat the menace of kidnapping and terrorism.
