Bayelsa APC Rebukes Nabena’s Call for NNPCL, NIMASA Relocation

The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unequivocally rejected and distanced itself from the recent remarks made by former National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, regarding the proposed relocation of some federal agencies from Abuja to Lagos.

Nabena had made a public call for the relocation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other entities to justify the decision to move certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Lagos.

In response, the APC in Bayelsa, through its Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, released a statement asserting that Nabena’s comments were made in his personal capacity and did not reflect the position of the party. The party emphasized that Nabena did not consult with the Bayelsa APC leadership before issuing his statement, and as such, his views were not aligned with the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Buokoribo emphasized the Bayelsa APC’s full support for President Tinubu’s agenda, particularly the initiative to decongest Abuja, cautioning against any attempts to politicize it. He reiterated that Nabena’s statements represented only himself, not the Bayelsa APC or its leadership.

The party highlighted its unwavering endorsement of President Tinubu’s policy directives, commending the results achieved during his tenure and affirming its commitment to championing the genuine ideals of the party.

In conclusion, the Bayelsa APC warned against any efforts to politicize the sincere endeavors of the Federal Government aimed at resetting the country for economic prosperity, reinforcing the message that Nabena’s views were entirely his own and did not reflect the stance of the party or its leader.
