NDLEA Launches Intensive Anti-Drug Campaign in Lagos to Combat Illicit Substance Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared its commitment to ramp up efforts in the fight against drug abuse in Lagos state. As part of the renewed campaign, Mallum Musa, the Media and Advocacy Officer of NDLEA’s Lagos Command, revealed plans to extend the outreach of the campaign to remote communities, aiming to deter locals from falling prey to illicit drug consumption.

Musa emphasized that the agency is set to organize a series of programs specifically targeting women and youth, with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. These programs will focus on educating Nigerians about various illicit drugs, their abuse, associated consequences, preventive measures, and avenues for treatment and care.

Additionally, in a significant move to bolster their investigative capabilities, the agency has upgraded its forensic laboratory. This enhancement is poised to play a pivotal role in supporting drug-related investigations, thereby fortifying the effectiveness of the anti-drug campaign.

Notably, Musa urged community leaders, religious organizations, institutions, and governments to unite with the NDLEA in their endeavor to eradicate illicit drugs from the state.

The NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to combating illicit drug use underscores the crucial role of collaborative and multi-faceted initiatives in addressing the pervasive issue of substance abuse in society.
