The People’s Republic of China, represented by its Embassy in Liberia, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the diplomatic relationship with Liberia, with a particular focus on infrastructure and overall cooperation.
Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Mr. Yin Chengw, stressed the mutual support, unity, and collaboration between China and Liberia. He emphasized the need to continually foster new achievements in their cooperation, leading to the creation of a thriving relationship between the two nations.
Ambassador Yin highlighted the commonalities shared by China and Liberia, despite the geographical distance, stating, “Though separated by thousands of miles, China and Liberia share a common future, with many similar positions and ideas and a wide range of common interests.”
Furthermore, he referenced President Xi’s initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, which align with the aspiration for peace, development, and cooperation among countries. These initiatives offer Chinese solutions to the global challenges faced by humanity.
In emphasizing the importance of amplifying the voices of the “global South,” Ambassador Yin urged the government and people of Liberia to heed this call. He underscored the growing influence and solidarity of the “global South,” resonating with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s commitment to promoting South-South cooperation to address mutual developmental issues within the global South.
The pledge by both China and Liberia to strengthen their partnership not only signifies a diplomatic feat but also holds the potential to advance infrastructure development and economic cooperation, thereby contributing to a more interconnected and prosperous future for both nations.
