Nigeria’s talismanic striker, Victor Osimhen, has voiced his belief that the Super Eagles are yet to showcase their best football at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite securing three wins and a draw in the tournament so far, Osimhen maintains that the team’s potential is yet to be fully unleashed.
In an exclusive interview with reporters, Osimhen underlined the team’s unwavering determination to excel, emphasizing, “I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win.” He highlighted the tight-knit bond within the squad, describing them as “more like a family than just players,” and stressed the importance of maintaining a winning mindset.
Crediting the team’s defenders for their unwavering focus and singling out the goalkeeper, Nwabali, for praise, Osimhen expressed a desire to maintain their current momentum. “I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going,” he added.
Looking ahead, the Super Eagles are slated to face Angola in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash on Friday, as they aim to elevate their performance and make further strides in the prestigious tournament.
