Empowering Ogun: Senator Adeola Grants 5,000 Traders N250m and Offers Scholarships

In a remarkable display of commitment to community development, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, also known as Yayi, recently empowered traders in Ogun West Senatorial District with N250 million in grants and awarded scholarships to students.

The beneficiaries, totaling 5,000 traders from the district’s five Local Government Areas, each received N50,000. Additionally, 1,000 indigent tertiary institution students were presented with N100,000 bursary awards, while 600 students from the senatorial district benefited from the lawmaker’s scholarship program.

University students under the scholarship received N200,000, while their counterparts in polytechnics and colleges of education were granted N175,000 and N150,000, respectively.

Addressing the audience during the empowerment program in Ilaro, Yewa South LGA, Senator Adeola emphasized the importance of contributing to the socioeconomic development of communities. He acknowledged the economic challenges faced by market women and men, particularly in terms of cash flow to sustain and expand their businesses.

The senator also highlighted the significance of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s program “Oko Owo Dapo” in providing financial support to market women and men, underscoring the need for additional initiatives to augment their businesses.

Senator Adeola also clarified that the grants, facilitated in conjunction with the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, are not loans but an initiative to boost the businesses of market men and women, describing it as a critical intervention in the sector.

Furthermore, Mrs. Yemisi Abas, the Iyaloja General of Ogun State, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the senator’s benevolent gesture, recognizing it as the second consecutive year the market has benefited from the grant.
