In a surprising move on deadline day, Remo Stars midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has completed a transfer to Italian giants Inter Milan. The 18-year-old, who is an academy product of Remo, signed a four-year contract with the Serie A club after they successfully outmaneuvered competition from Real Madrid, Benfica, and Hammarby for his signature. Remo Stars confirmed the transfer on their website, stating, “Midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has completed his move to Italian giants Inter Milan from Remo Stars. The teenager, who is an academy product of the club, has signed a four-year deal. He was part of the team that helped Remo Stars gain promotion from the Nigeria National League to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in the 2020/2021 season.”
Akinsanmiro made significant contributions while playing for the academy team, Beyond Limits, in both The Creative Championship and the Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament. He also played a key role for Remo Stars during the 2022 NPFL season, where the team finished third and competed on the continental stage. His talent caught the attention of Inter scouts during the Viareggio Cup Academy tournament in Italy in March 2022. Following the tournament, he signed a preliminary contract with Inter before returning to Nigeria.
A scout who has closely monitored Akinsanmiro’s development shared insights about the player’s abilities on Twitter. “He can take the ball at the right angle between the lines, statically or mobile, and the time to turn his face to the opponent’s field is at a very good level. He often suffers from balance problems due to lower body weakness. This young boy from Remo Stars is valued,” the scout tweeted in February 2022. It is anticipated that Akinsanmiro will join Inter’s youth side as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
