Nigeria’s Peseiro Urges Total Commitment Against Angola in AFCON 2023 Quarter-Final

Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, has downplayed the favorites tag ahead of their quarter-final clash with Angola, emphasizing the need for hard work and commitment from his players.
Despite being considered favorites by experts, the Nigerian team has demonstrated resilience and determination in previous matches, notably defeating hosts Cote d’Ivoire and perennial rivals Cameroon.
Peseiro acknowledged the challenge posed by Angola, stating, “Angola is not a big name, but they have talented players and have performed admirably in this competition. It’s going to be a tough game between two teams that want to reach the final.”
Expressing confidence in his team, Peseiro emphasized the necessity of approaching the game with vigor and fighting spirit, rejecting the idea that the Super Eagles are clear favorites. “It’s going to be 50/50 for the two teams. I believe in my team, we want to win even though we won’t accept we are the favorites. We will go there and fight.”
The highly anticipated match between Nigeria and Angola is scheduled to take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday.
