The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has issued a stern warning against engaging with its expelled members who are falsely presenting themselves as national executives.
According to the NNPP’s National Legal Adviser, Hon Robert, some former executives have been expelled from the party, and there is a court order restricting them from claiming leadership roles within the NNPP. This court order remains unchallenged and in effect.
Furthermore, Hon Robert emphasized that the activities of these expelled members amount to contempt of court, as they have been duly served with the court order. He urged the media to refrain from inadvertently violating the court order by recognizing these individuals as NNPP leaders.
The NNPP is adamant that these expelled individuals are political intruders and opportunistically engaging in illicit activities. They are urging the public to steer clear of this renegade group and refrain from transacting any business with them on behalf of NNPP, as it would constitute a violation of the law.
Additionally, the NNPP clarified that no institution, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), recognizes these expelled members, thwarting their attempts to gain recognition through unconventional means.
On the subject of upcoming elections, Hon Robert expressed the NNPP’s readiness to participate in the forthcoming polls in 26 states. He called on Nigerians to collaborate with INEC to ensure the delivery of fair and credible elections. Notably, the NNPP has published the names of its candidates and posted the details of its polling agents in preparation for these elections.
Looking ahead, while urging cooperation for the upcoming elections, the NNPP also announced the commencement of the sale of forms for the Edo off-cycle election, with primary elections slated for February 23 to select the party’s candidate. The party plans to initiate the sale of forms for the Ondo off-cycle election in April.
In concluding remarks, Hon Robert reaffirmed the NNPP’s unwavering focus on party administration and determination to not be swayed by the disruptive actions of these expelled individuals.
