Igbo community in Kano endorses Atiku

The Igbo community in Kano has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

The Eze Ndigbo of Kano, Ikechukwu Akpudo, made the endorsement on behalf of the community when Ibrahim Ali-Amin (Little), the chief campaigner of the PDP presidential candidate in Kano, visited him in his palace.

The Eze described Mr Abubakar as a bridge builder who had worked for the unity of the country.

“The only option for Nigerians is Atiku, for he is the only person who can defeat Tinubu. He is contesting under a big platform. Another reason is that we can’t support Muslim-Muslim ticket. We want a balanced ticket in the interest of fairness,” he said.

“As you can see, it’s days to election but nobody among us will move to his hometown to vote. This is where we vote together with our family. We stay here, and our businesses are here.

“Our prayers are for a peaceful election. We have decided that the current challenges facing the country can only be addressed by Atiku Abubakar.

“We speak with one voice as a people. We are straightforward and we want to assure His Excellency that our vote will go to him.

“I was a two-term councillor in Sabon Gari, I will mobilise to the best of my ability to see Atiku emerge victorious at the poll,” he said.

On his part, Mr Ali-Amin noted that the Igbos are peace-loving people who distinguished themselves in business.

He call on them to utilise their vote effectively so that they can reap the dividends of democracy together with their people.

“Atiku Abubakar will carry every ethnic group along, this country has done so much for him, therefore, he wants to give back to his country by providing effective and conducive leadership to Nigerians.

“That’s why he’s married to an Igbo, a Yoruba, Kanuri etc. Waziri is someone that should be trusted by Nigerians for the interest of the nation and its unity,” he said.

Other members of the entourage include Auwalu Anwar, a policy adviser to the presidential candidate and Bashir Kalla.
