Deadly Attack on Police Patrol Team in Ebonyi

A recent assault on police officers by armed individuals has resulted in tragedy in Ebonyi state. The incident occurred during a patrol along the Ngbo-Effium road in the Ohaukwu local government area. The assailants, traveling in an unregistered Ash-coloured Toyota Sienna, engaged in a gun battle with the officers, leading to the fatal injury of one policeman. Another officer is currently undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained during the encounter.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed that the attack took place on February 1 at approximately 11:00 am. In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo, swiftly dispatched tactical teams to track down the perpetrators and restore peace in the area.

The Ebonyi Command’s PPRO urged residents to provide any pertinent information that could lead to the apprehension of the fleeing criminals. Furthermore, he reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property in the state. The authorities have managed to restore calm and normalcy to the affected region. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in the region.
