Voter Apathy Plagues Taraba’s House of Representatives Bye-Election

Reports of widespread voter apathy have marred the ongoing House of Representatives bye-election in the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba.

The election was called following the passing of Ismaila Maihanchi, who emerged victorious in the February 25, 2023, election.

Visits to several polling units revealed a significant lack of voter turnout, with electoral officials awaiting voters as of 12.30 pm.

Meanwhile, residents of Jalingo and Zing towns adhered to the vehicle movement restrictions enforced by the police.

The primary contenders in the election include Sadiq Abbas of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aminu Liman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, and Aminu Malle of the All Progressives Congress.
