Angolan President Optimistic After AFCON Defeat: “Next One Will Be Ours”

The president of Angola, João Lourenço, has expressed satisfaction with the national team’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations despite their elimination by Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Ademola Lookman’s goal secured a victory for the Super Eagles, ending Angola’s journey in the tournament.

Reflecting on the team’s efforts, President Lourenço encouraged the players not to lose heart, emphasizing the country’s pride in their accomplishments in Cote d’Ivoire. He acknowledged the need for improvement while expressing confidence in future success. In an official statement on his social network account, he said, “In this CAN we did well, but we need to improve, learning from our mistakes. Don’t be discouraged; the next one will be ours, just depending on all of us, MINJUD, FAF, Palancas, and all Angolan fans.”

The president’s words exemplify the unwavering support for the national team, setting a hopeful tone for their future endeavors in international football.
