The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has emerged victorious in the re-run election at Rabin Du polling unit in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. This unit holds significance as it is the polling unit of the former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang.

A total of 334 voters were registered in the polling unit, with 194 accredited to vote. According to the results collated by the Presiding Officer, Lassa Abacha, the ADP secured 159 votes, outperforming six other participating parties.

The breakdown of scores revealed that the Action Alliance received one vote, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had two, MAP had two, the African Democratic Congress garnered 12 votes, and the Labour Party received 15 votes. Furthermore, 134 ballot papers were unused, while seven were marked as “spoiled.”

Jang, who cast his vote at the polling unit, expressed disappointment over the low voter turnout during the re-run. In an interview with journalists, he attributed the situation to the exclusion of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from participating in the re-run, which he believed had dampened the people’s morale.

Describing the situation as a reflection of the level of trust in the system, Jang stated, “Plateau is PDP and PDP is Plateau. So, if you remove the PDP from the ballot and said the party and the candidates should not participate, what do you expect the people to do? So, that is the problem.”
