Norway’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Svein Baera, advocates for a stronger partnership between Nigeria and Norway to bolster energy production. The Norwegian Ambassador made this statement during an event organized by the Nigerian Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Lagos to welcome him as the new ambassador.
During the event, Baera emphasized the importance of working together to enhance energy production, recognizing both countries’ focus on energy and their expertise in the sector. He highlighted the need to ensure sufficient energy production for economic growth, job creation, and the overall well-being of communities, including vital institutions like hospitals and schools. Baera also underscored the potential for collaboration in delivering cleaner energy solutions, citing a company that provides solar energy to Nigerian businesses as a positive example. He pointed out that this initiative not only reduces costs for Nigerian companies but also contributes to mitigating pollution and addressing climate change.
Chijioke Igwe, Chairman of the Nigerian Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, echoed the existing robust relationship between Nigeria and Norway in the fields of oil and gas, agriculture, renewable energy, and technology, emphasizing the abundant opportunities available for collaboration.
Igwe, also serving as the Vice Chairman of Aveon Offshore, expressed the intent of the gathering to facilitate interactions and exploration of opportunities between companies from both nations across various sectors.
In addition, Igwe outlined the chamber’s plans for the year, which include engaging government officials in discussions to understand the business community’s potential and hosting events to provide insights into specific business opportunities within the country. He highlighted the chamber’s commitment to hosting quarterly sessions featuring government representatives to communicate valuable business prospects to the business community.
