The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has emerged victorious in the re-run elections for two State Assembly seats in Kano, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Dr. Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq of NNPP won in the Kura/Garun Mallam State Constituency, while Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu secured victory in the Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituency.

In Kura/Garun Mallam, Dr. Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq garnered 37,262 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Musa Hayatu Daurawar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who obtained 30,803 votes. The appeal court’s directive led to the rerun election at 20 polling units in the constituency, ultimately resulting in NNPP’s triumph.

Similarly, in Rimin Gado/Tofa, Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu of NNPP emerged victorious with 31,135 votes, defeating the candidate from APC, who secured 25,577 votes. INEC conducted the re-run election at 33 polling units following the appeal court’s directive.

These outcomes signify a significant political shift in the state and highlight NNPP’s growing influence in Kano’s political landscape. With these wins, NNPP continues to solidify its presence in the State Assembly, potentially shaping future legislative decisions and agendas.
