In a recent viral video, Jasmine Okafor disclosed the complexities of her bond with the renowned actor, John Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu. She addressed the widely reported incident involving her and Mr Ibu’s son, Daniel Onyeabuchi, who were allegedly apprehended in Lagos for purportedly defrauding the actor of N55 million.

In her candid narration, Jasmine unveiled her profound connection with Mr Ibu, portraying him not only as a mentor but also as a fatherly figure in her life. She revealed, “I said I wasn’t going to talk about this issue until Mr Ibu gets back on his feet and to God be the glory he has been discharged and recuperating. A lot has happened and I will like to shed more light on how I got involved and how things got to this point.”

Jasmine elucidated that her relationship with Mr Ibu stemmed from the profound friendship between the actor and her late father, a Nigerian army officer. Following her father’s demise, Mr Ibu assumed a paternal role in her life. Later on, when she pursued her studies in law in Cyprus, Mr Ibu allegedly reached out to her for financial assistance, revealing his ailing health condition and distressed family situation.

Her account of Mr Ibu’s plea for aid was perplexing, considering his previous prosperous state. She disclosed, “In 2020, Mr Ibu started requesting financial assistance from me on chat and I was surprised because he was doing well and almost at the peak of his career before I left. He now opened up to me that he was sick and was in Abuja, while his wife was in Lagos I requested to call her and she told me that Mr Ibu had left the house for over two years.”

The intricacies of Jasmine’s relationship with Mr Ibu, and the unfolding of unprecedented events, compelled her to bring her truth into the open. She remarked, “I didn’t want to speak but things have gotten to a point that I have to speak up my truth.”
