Lawan Pogu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a resounding victory in the House of Assembly by-election for Chibok Constituency in Borno, as declared by the Returning Officer, Prof. Baba Kyari-Waziri.
Pogu clinched 9,101 votes, trouncing his closest rival, Habila Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 2,117 votes. The other candidates received significantly fewer votes, with Abdullahi Gambo of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) securing 69 votes, Hamid Zamzam of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) obtaining 63 votes, and Maina Sheriff of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gathering 12 votes.
Additionally, Abdullahi Lawan of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) garnered 48 votes, while Haruna Shettima of the Action People’s Party (APP) acquired 17 votes.
The by-election in Chibok was necessitated by the unfortunate passing of the initial winner of the 2023 election, Nuhu Clerk.
