CEO of Drekz Analytics Limited, Abdullahi Olawale, has made a fervent appeal to the Nigerian government, calling for a state of emergency to be declared in the country’s export sector. Speaking in Abuja, Olawale highlighted the urgent need to address the obstacles obstructing the export of goods and services. He emphasized that this intervention is crucial for fortifying the Naira and resolving the exchange rate crisis.
Olawale urged patience with President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging the deeply entrenched economic challenges inherited and the time required for comprehensive reforms to take effect. He stressed the imperative of deep-rooted reforms for sustainable growth, despite the anticipated initial disorientation in the economy.
The CEO emphasized the necessity of a collective effort to confront the economic crisis, underscoring the significance of reducing governance costs, intensifying the anti-corruption campaign, and enhancing exports to stabilize the Naira. He called upon Nigerians to unite in supporting the Presidency during this economic emergency, stating that economic prosperity would alleviate security concerns and enhance collective wealth and prosperity.
Specifically addressing President Bola Tinubu, Olawale urged for an emergency declaration in the export sector and prompt discussions between the Ministers of Finance and Trade and Investment to address export process bottlenecks. He highlighted the criticality of streamlining procedures and liberating exporters from existing impediments to augment foreign exchange earnings for the country.
