Nigeria’s Super Eagles Secure $2.5 Million Prize in AFCON Semifinal

The Super Eagles have achieved a remarkable feat in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by earning a substantial $2.5 million in prize money after reaching the semi-final stage. This significant achievement comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) declared a notable 40% increase in prize money just before the commencement of the tournament.

It’s essential to note that the prize money received by the team is separate from the bonuses and allowances granted to the players by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Furthermore, the ultimate victor of the AFCON will walk away with an impressive $7 million, with the runners-up securing $4 million. Teams that reached the quarterfinals are set to receive $1.3 million each, while those who made it to the Round of 16 will be awarded $800,000 per team.

Looking ahead, Nigeria is scheduled to clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final, which is slated to take place at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, on Wednesday.
