Senegal Temporarily Suspends Mobile Data Services Over Public Security Concerns

The Senegalese government has announced a temporary suspension of mobile data internet, citing the dissemination of hateful and subversive messages on social networks and the potential for public order disturbances. The Minister of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital Affairs released a statement on the temporary suspension, effective from Sunday, February 4 at 10 p.m. The directive also requires compliance from telephone operators.
