Deadly Cult Clashes Leave 4 Dead and 11 Arrested in Ogun, Nigeria

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of several suspected cultists in Abeokuta, the state capital, following clashes between rival groups. According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Omolola Odutola, the incidents involved members of the aye group and buccaneer confraternity.

In one instance, Seun Elewode, a member of the aye cult group, was killed during a shootout in the Adeun area of Lafenwa, Abeokuta. Another suspected cultist was shot dead in Oshungboye crescent, while a member of the buccaneer confraternity was killed in Akinolugbade. Additionally, Seun Elewode, a notorious member of the aye cult group who had recently been released from prison, was also attacked and shot dead at Adeun, Lafenwa.

The violence escalated over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving several others with gunshot injuries. Among the deceased were members of aye, eiye, and buccaneer confraternities. The clashes reportedly began on Thursday when a suspected leader of the eiye confraternity was shot dead in the Ijeja area of Abeokuta.

In response to the killings, the police have arrested 11 suspects associated with the incidents. The situation remains tense as authorities work to quell further violence and maintain public safety in the region.
