Nigerian Analyst Urges Coach Peseiro to Field Iheanacho in AFCON Semi-finals

A football analyst, Festus Alenkhe, has urged Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro to include Kelechi Iheanacho in the squad for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final against South Africa. Alenkhe emphasized that introducing the Leicester City star would enhance the team’s strength.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin, Alenkhe questioned the coach’s decision not to play Iheanacho, suggesting that he should be featured in the second half of the game. He also emphasized the need for the technical crew to bolster the midfield to increase their chances against the Bafana Bafana.

Alenkhe highlighted the team’s solid defense and effective attack, but stressed the significance of midfield improvements. Notably, Iheanacho is yet to make an appearance for Nigeria in the 2023 AFCON.
