Actor Olaiya Igwe Apologizes for Controversial Naked Campaign in Support of Tinubu

Renowned Yoruba actor, Olaiya Igwe, has issued a public apology to the public for his previous controversial act of going nude while praying for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections. This apology comes in the midst of widespread hardships faced by Nigerians due to the economic policies under President Tinubu’s administration.

Igwe, who has faced significant criticism for his nude display at the beach in support of Tinubu, expressed remorse in a video titled “Apologies to All My Fans,” which he shared on his YouTube channel. He attributed his actions to a divine revelation he claims to have received, stating, “I went naked at the beach to pray for Tinubu based on revelation. I supported him as payback because he is my benefactor.”

He further addressed the public, acknowledging their discontent with his actions, “Nigerians, please don’t be angry. You see me as one of those who brought this hardship to the country. I accept. You are raining curses on me because you felt my going to the beach influenced you to vote for him. I’m sorry.”

Igwe recognized the current challenges faced by Nigerians and urged President Tinubu to take proactive measures, stating, “Nigerians are crying. Even those in the diaspora are angry with the present situation of the country. I want to talk to our father, Tinubu, that Nigerians’ expectations are not met. There’s a need for you to appoint a monitoring team to ensure your appointees deliver on your plans and promises to citizens.”

Notably, Igwe’s apology follows similar expressions of discontent from notable supporters of President Tinubu, such as the well-known musician Kwam 1, reflecting the widespread concern regarding the current state of affairs in Nigeria.
