The Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) in Kano has successfully matriculated 1,380 newly admitted students for the 2023/2024 academic session. The matriculation ceremony, held at the Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Lecture Theatre, was attended by esteemed guests, parents, and well-wishers.
The two-day program saw students from various schools being matriculated, with a focus on different disciplines. The event symbolizes the official enrollment of the matriculating students into the university’s academic program, approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
MAAUN’s president, Prof. Mohammad Israr, congratulated the new students on their admission and encouraged them to embrace self-discipline and approach their studies diligently. He emphasized the university’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge research and service in science, leadership, and management.
In his address, Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, the Founder and President of MAAUN Group of Universities, highlighted the international nature of the university, with students from diverse countries, including China. He underscored the university’s market-oriented and entrepreneurially based teaching approach.
The matriculating students were reminded of the university’s focus on providing quality education to produce graduates capable of contributing to the development of Africa and the world. They were advised to set clear goals and uphold good character to preserve the university’s reputation and achieve their career aspirations.
The matriculation oath was administered to the new students by the vice president of administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, with various other management staff and invited guests in attendance.
