Security Agencies Thwart Attempt to Incite Conflict Between Northern Senators and Public

Intelligence officials have discovered a scheme to stoke discord between Senators from Northern Nigeria and the general public, as well as to incite rivalry among the nation’s security forces.

According to sources within the intelligence services, certain individuals have been attempting to portray a powerful Northern Senator, who chairs a key Senate committee, as a sponsor and financier of terrorist activities and banditry in the Northern region. However, a high-ranking intelligence officer dismissed these claims as unfounded, citing an internal investigation that revealed the true instigators behind the false narrative.

Furthermore, a senior military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the orchestrator of the defamatory media report has been identified as a retired security officer from a state in the middle belt. Efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the Senator being accused and to hold the perpetrator accountable for attempting to sow discord among the populace.

The security agencies have confirmed that there are no ongoing prosecutions or investigations involving any Senator for sponsoring acts of banditry or terrorism. They are committed to uncovering and addressing attempts to manipulate public opinion and to safeguard the unity of the Nigerian people.
