Islamic Scholar Defends Support for Muslim-Muslim Ticket, Dismisses Critics

Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya Jingir, has firmly stood by his decision to endorse a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, dismissing criticisms and vowing never to regret his choice. Addressing a congregation, Sheikh Jingir refuted the notion that the harsh economic conditions faced by Nigerians under the current administration would shake his conviction.

Sheikh Jingir, also a factional leader of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, denounced his critics as hypocrites and emphasized that no amount of adverse policies enacted by the endorsed candidate, Bola Tinubu, would sway his allegiance. He passionately defended his stance, highlighting the disparity in support for the Muslim-Muslim ticket and recounting the rejection faced by the candidate’s wife from Christians during her campaign.

The cleric stressed that his decision was rooted in religious principles, advocating for fairness and equity to both Muslims and non-Muslims as guided by Islamic teachings. Sheikh Jingir adamantly declared his unwavering commitment to the Muslim-Muslim ticket, asserting that his support would endure even until the end of his life and beyond.
