NAFDAC Cracks Down on Unsanitary Bakery Repackaging Products in Sokoto

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action in Sokoto, sealing a bakery for unauthorized repackaging of products and maintaining poor sanitation practices.

Garba Adamu, the NAFDAC Coordinator in Sokoto State, reported to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the unregistered bakery was closed with the assistance of security personnel, and the bakery’s owner was promptly arrested and sanctioned. Additionally, all materials used in the unauthorized operations were confiscated.

Adamu highlighted that the bakery owner was educated on the proper registration procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines. He emphasized NAFDAC’s commitment to promoting a business-friendly environment and customer-focused activities, aligning with the Federal Government’s policy of fostering entrepreneurship in local Nigerian communities.

The NAFDAC coordinator further noted that the agency aims to reduce registration requirements for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) producing low-risk products, ensuring product quality through a robust regulatory framework with quality management system certification.

Emphasizing the paramount importance of public health, Adamu urged the public to actively support NAFDAC’s mission.

This crackdown in Sokoto serves as a testament to NAFDAC’s unwavering dedication to upholding public health and enforcing regulatory standards, safeguarding consumers from unscrupulous practices and unhygienic conditions.
